Certificate of Proficiency

Page 74 of the February 2009 edition of RadCom contains details of the RSGB's  new Certificate of Competency for morse code operators. The intention os the Certificate is to provide some form of recognition for those who wish to have it of their achievement in learning morse code.
 
The lowest speed for which a Certificate will be issued is 5 wpm and will require candidates to send and  receive text, including punctuation, for 3 minutes with no more than 3 uncorrected errors. Endorsements may be obtained at 12,15,20, 25 and 30 wpm but furtger tests will be required and these will include sending and receiving in a basic- rubber stamp type QSO.
 
For those who wish to start at a higher speed the initial test will include sending and receiving text, including punctuation and some figure groioups, for 3 minutes with no uncorrected errors plus sending and receiving in a basic rubbber-stamp type QSO.
 
Tests can be conducted by any affiliated RSGB Club with a successful test being countersigned by the Club Chairperson and passed to the RSGB Deputy Regional Manager for a Certificate or Proficiency to be issued.
