News Broadcasts
GB2RS is the news broadcasting service of the Radio Society of Great Britain. The news broadcast, which is transmitted on a weekly basis on Sundays, is intended for all radio amateurs and short wave listeners. The broadcast is relayed on behalf of the Society by licenced amateurs who reside right across the United Kingdom. The bulletin contains items of general interest aimed at radio amateurs living in Great Britain and Northern Ireland but also contains specific items of local news relative to various geographical regions within the country.
Details of the full GB2RS broadcast schedule may be obtained from the RSGB website or by post (SASE) from Society Headquarters but broadcasts transmitted from Northern Ireland are shown in the table below. Grayed out broadcasts are off-air pending appointment of a news reader.

GB2RS celebrated its 50th anniversary on 25 September 2005. To mark that occasion the RSGB Patron, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh issued a statement which was broadcast to all radio amateurs and SWL's via GB2RS transmissions on that day and, in addition, newsreaders used the special callsign GB50RS to receive transmission reports following the GB2RS news broadcast of 25 September 2005. Special QSL cards were also printed to commemorate this historic event.
The IRTS Radio News Service news bulletins are broadcast each week by the Society as a service to all radio experimenters and shortwave listeners. Times (local time) and frequencies are as shown in the table.

Signal reports are welcomed by newsreaders from both the GB2RS and the IRTS after the bulletins, as are reports from SWLs. Members are asked to contribute to the news service by passing on items of interest to the relevant Radio News Editor.
Club secretaries are especially asked to keep the Radio News Editors informed of events run by their clubs.
Items may be submitted by e-mail, letter or fax making sure that a contact name, callsign and telephone number is always given. State clearly if a phone number is daytime only, evening or anytime.
Ensure the full name of your Club is stated and the callsign (if s/he has one) plus the name of the speaker is given.
News bulletins from both the RSGB and the IRTS are also available on a weekly basis from the respecive websites.
