About Me

Hello, my name is Jim Henry and I am a ham radio enthusiast having held an Amateur Radio licence since 1984. Prior to being licenced, I was a short wave listener for many years. My callsign is GI0DVU and through my hobby I have made many friends from all over the world.

My main interest is operating in the CW or morse code mode. Although many people may consider morse to be outdated, it is still, in my opinion, the most efficient mode of radio transmission available today.

I operate on all the HF bands from top band through to 10 metres, and I may also be found on the 2 and 6 metre bands.

Although CW is my preferred mode of operation, I also use 'phone (both SSB and FM) and  the digital modes, particularly RTTY, MFSK and PSK31. From time to time I use Echolink,  a computer program which links amateur radio and the internet.

In ddition to using LoTW, I respond 100% to all QSL cards received direct, via the Buro or by e-QSL. Licenced operators or SWL's requiring direct QSL's must enclose the appropriate postage, green stamps or IRC's. Click here for my QSL details.

I look forward to meeting you on air, especially on 40, 30, 17 and 12 metres, these being my favourite bands.

International friendship, achieved through amateur radio, is fascinating and forms a bond like no other I know. Radio amateurs truly have the world at their fingertips.
