Where to Buy

Having obtained that licence you will be anxious to get some gear and go on-air. Some of you may decide to build your own equipment either from scratch or from one of the many kits now available. Others will want to purchase gear either new, used or ex-demonstration. There are plenty of choices, too many for me to document here but a useful starting point for some will be e-Bay where a myriad of equipment will be found, some of it in e-Bay shops run by well known ham radio emporiums. e-Bay operates world-wide and is very popular within the ham radio ccommunity.

There are many ham  radio retailers to be found all across the world and I cannot start to list them here. My advice is to hunt out the reputable dealers near you and go talk to them about your requirements. Think carefully about what it is you want from the hobby before rushing in to purchase. You may possibly regret a hastily made decision at a later date.

Those of you who live in GI-Land will know there are currently three dealers in Northern Ireland who offer a wide range of new and used equipment for sale. They may also consider buying good used equipment. I list them below in alphabetical order. It is for you to decide if you wish to contact any or all of them.
