Welcome

Welcome to my website and to the world of amateur radio.I hope  you enjoy your visit  and find something of interest to you. If you  are a licenced operator or a short wave listener you will find help and guidance on many aspects of the hobby in the pages that follow. If you are just browsing perhaps you may find something to whet your appetite for this exciting, stimulating and challenging scientific hobby.

Mention Ham Radio to anyone these days and most people’s minds will turn to that infamous 1960 Tony Hancock sketch, “The Radio Ham.”  This classic episode sees Hancock as a ham radio enthusiast who receives a mayday call from a ship in distress but keeps getting distracted just before he can take down its position. However if the truth be known, ham radio is a sophisticated, scientific  space age hobby which is a far cry from that portrayed by Tony in his sketch.

Amateur radio is all about experimentation, learning and the art of communication, as you will discover when you explore this site.

The site is updated at regular intervals  and our newsletter, issued at regular intervals by e-mail, advises of the main changes to look for. It also contains news items of interest to the ham radio community.
